Spotlight on GREY AREA artist: Parvez Taj!
Parvez Taj engages the viewer with his witty, playful works! He often appropriates objects from mass culture, while at the same time imbuing them with a strong sense of irony. For instance, Parvez’s Rubick’s Cube is an example of the artist making the gaming object functional in the sense that it is now a table or a seat. However, at the same time he de-functionalizes the Rubick’s cube in terms of its original purpose.
Parvez is also a pioneer in the exciting, new technology of 3D printing! He mixes photography, water/acrylic paints, and UV inks with diverse materials such as aluminum, canvas, bamboo, and recycled woods to create his signature, unique style. Even though there are severe limitations to this artistic technique, Parvez employs skill and finesse to overcome its inherent difficulties, making him one of the only artists who has conquered the method!
Now is your chance to own the visionary artist’s unique Buffalo Skull, which is available at the Guggenheim Museum Store and on the GREY AREA website!
