Grey Area has teamed up with Robert Lazzarini to create two new limited-edition jigsaw puzzles! Making objects based on things that already exist, Lazzarini appropriates two vintage porn puzzles from the 1970’s. Using various algorithms, the artist applies compound mathematical distortions to the puzzles, creating interplay between the allure of the female figure and the disfiguration created by the distortions. Both puzzles are approximately 11" x 17" and come in a limited edition of 50, making the perfect holiday gift!
Robert Lazzarini is an American artist who lives and works in New York. He has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1995 and is included in several major public collections such as the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. Primarily a sculptor, Lazzarini is best known for making common objects that have been subjected to compound distortions which have the effect of confusing visual and haptic space, or rather complicating the space of pictures and the space of things. Lazzarini also alters the physical spaces in which these objects are seen—the "ground" to the object's "figure"—which adds to the "disorienting" effect that the work exerts on its audience.
